Nethanna Bima Scheme Telangana 2024: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday launched Nethanna Bima Yojana 2024. Along with this, he wished the weavers community of the state on the occasion of National Handloom Day. He said that the Telangana government is continuously working for the welfare of the weavers community. He is also working on many new schemes for them.
Talking about Nethanna Bima Yojana 2024, he said that it is the first of its kind in the country. This will benefit 80 lakh weaver families. The scheme will provide insurance cover to weavers’ families. This insurance scheme is being launched especially on the occasion of Handloom Day. Along with the announcement of the scheme, Telangana’s Handloom Minister KT Rama Rao urged the central government to withdraw GST on handloom. He said that this is adversely affecting the weavers.
Under this scheme, the weaver’s family will get Rs. 5 lakhs in case of any kind of accidental death or accident. Weaver families will get financial security through this scheme. Telangana government has partnered with the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) for this scheme. The annual installment of this scheme will be paid by the government itself. Nethanna Bima Scheme Telangana 2024 All Details
On 7th August 2022, Nethanna Bima will be launched. Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister announced the program for the state. The scheme will start on August 7 as it is National Handloom Day and is for the welfare of handloom weavers. Importantly, under this scheme, the government will pay the insurance premium. In case the insured dies due to an illness or accident while the policy is in force, the policy will pay up to Rs 5 lakh to the nominee or the family. In some insurance schemes, it takes a long time to send the money to the nominee. But under this scheme, it will take only 10 days for the nominee to get Rs 5 lakh after the death of the beneficiary.
The Department of Handlooms and Textiles as the nodal agency is in charge of the program, and they will take care of all the necessary arrangements. The government has earmarked Rs 50 crore for this scheme and Rs 25 crore or 50% of it has already been disbursed. As a part of the same, the state government will launch the Nethanna Bima Yojana, which is similar to the Rythu Bhima Yojana. This will provide financial security to the weavers’ families. Also, Telangana state is known for handloom and around 80,000 handloom weavers are covered under this insurance scheme.
The state government helps handloom weavers through two more schemes: Chenetha Mitra Yojana and Nethannaku Cheyutha. Under one scheme, the state government provides 40 percent subsidy to handloom workers. Under another scheme, the state government provides 16 percent financial assistance deposit to handloom workers as a state share of the 8 percent savings paid by cooperative sector workers. But these programs can help only the handloom weavers who are enrolled in them.
